I never realized it until I watched Sherlock Holmes 2 for the second time, but right before Holmes takes Moriarty over the falls, he looks to Watson and then shuts his eyes.

He closes his eyes so the last thing he sees is John.

I know actions speak louder than words, but if you didn't realize that until now I bet my words punched you right in the feels
